Harvey started out as an electrician. He moved into recruitment at 19 and opened his own agency within three months.
Since then he’s built and scaled his own recruitment businesses, and helped other people launch theirs, including people who had never sold before.
At HeyAmara he teaches the course and mentors members directly. When a client or deal gets tricky, you’re talking to someone who has been there.

I’d always wanted to go out on my own, but sometimes you need that push. When my health meant I could only work from the sofa, HeyAmara gave me the chance to finally do it and build a business around my life. That business is now The Select Few, an electrical recruitment desk here in Perth, and it’s one of the best things I’ve ever done. The community is a big part of why it works. There’s always someone to bounce ideas off, Harvey’s support and guidance have been incredible from day one, and the accountability keeps me moving, even on the tough days. If you’re thinking about starting your own agency, speak to Harvey.

When I first met Harvey many years ago, I instantly thought, “There’s something special about this guy,” and boy, was I right. I went from giving him a few pointers to him giving them to me. It’s incredible to see what he’s done across his businesses and the exciting places they are going. Harvey is a straight shooter honest, authentic and super smart. Would I trust him with my recruitment career with the exciting things he’s doing at Hey Amara? A firm yes!

Before Amara/Harvey I was running everything off spreadsheets, and my organisation wasn’t great. It was hard to find people quickly and hard to see where I was up to with each client and candidate. Finding new clients was slow, and I was still doing it the old way. Harvey changed that. Everything now sits in one place, so I can find people fast and see exactly where I’m at. I’ve learnt how to land clients much quicker than before, and I signed my first two clients within weeks of starting. The bigger change was my frame of mind. Amara helped me see where I was and how to keep improving: working quicker and believing in myself. The community has been amazing too. Being around high-leverage, like-minded people has pushed me further than I’d have gone on my own. I’d recommend Amara/Harvey to any recruiter who knows they want more. If you’ve got real drive, want to keep building your skills and have a bit of an entrepreneurial head on you, it’s for you.

Harvey is the recruitment king! Genuinely don’t think I’ve met someone that is so clued up on the industry. Having rapidly scaled his agency, and now building the platform to power the modern era of agencies, he is go-to man for all things recruitment.

When I first reached out to Harvey, I was at a real crossroads. I knew I couldn’t see myself working for another agency, but taking the leap and building something of my own was a huge decision. I had the vision. Harvey helped me work out how to actually bring it to life. What means the most to me is how supported I’ve felt throughout the whole process. He showed me the ropes, shared his knowledge and backed me while I took a chance on myself. Having someone in your corner at that stage makes such a difference. I’m so grateful to have you as part of my journey!

Harvey’s a true visionary. He sees where things are going before most people do, and he’s not afraid to back himself and build toward that future. What makes him stand out is how he combines that big-picture thinking with relentless execution. He’s building a lean, modern business from the ground up, always refining, simplifying, and staying focused on what moves the needle. He leads by example, rolls up his sleeves, and genuinely cares about his people. I’ve learned a lot from working alongside him and have a ton of respect for how he shows up every day.

Before working with Harvey, I was running a lead generation agency for UK trade businesses and had never worked a recruitment desk. As my recruitment coach, Harvey took me through The Art of Recruitment and helped me set up my own recruitment agency from scratch, from choosing a niche in plumbing, electrical and HVAC trades to building out my client and candidate pipelines in HeyAmara. Within roughly three months of starting, I made my first placement with an Australian client and now have live roles and a growing candidate base to work from. What stood out was how practical it was: real scripts, real systems and straight answers instead of theory. If you’re thinking about leaving a desk to go out on your own, or starting a recruitment business with no prior experience, Harvey is the recruitment mentor I’d point you to.

I’ve had such a great experience working with Harvey and the team at HeyAmara and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a recruitment coach or recruitment mentor. Harvey has genuinely helped me grow and develop both professionally and personally, giving me the guidance, confidence and tools to become a better recruiter. What I’ve really valued is how personalised the support has been and how invested Harvey is in helping you actually improve, rather than just giving generic advice. If you’re looking to take your recruitment career to the next level, I couldn’t recommend Harvey and HeyAmara enough!

Five weeks after starting my own recruitment agency, with no recruitment experience at all, I had billed $25,000 in placement fees. I still find that hard to believe, and it would not have happened without Harvey and the team at HeyAmara. Before we started working together, I had never made a placement, never run a client meeting, and had no idea how a recruitment agency actually makes money. I knew I wanted to build my own business, but I didn’t know where to start, what to charge, or how to win a first client without a track record of my own. Most of the advice I found online assumed you’d already spent years on a desk at a big agency. Harvey was the recruitment coach I needed. He helped me set up ToolsToLeads Ltd, operating under HJ Recruitment, the agency brand he previously ran. Together we chose a niche I could win in, wrote my terms of business and fee structure, built a business development routine, and set up HeyAmara as my ATS so every candidate, client and job was in one place from day one. Instead of theory, I got a clear plan for each week and someone checking that I actually did it. The structure mattered as much as the coaching. Every Monday I had my targets for the week: how many business development calls, how many candidates to approach, and which clients to follow up. HeyAmara kept all of it tracked, so in our sessions we looked at real numbers rather than how I felt the week had gone. That honesty is a big part of why I billed so quickly. What made the biggest difference was having a recruitment mentor who had done it before. On my first client call, I knew what to ask. When a candidate started to wobble before an offer, I knew how to handle it. When I wasn’t sure whether to take on a job, I had someone to sense-check it with. That support turned a lot of first-time mistakes into first-time wins. By week 5, I had billed $25,000 in placement fees, and I’m now running ToolsToLeads under the HJ Recruitment name with a pipeline of clients and live roles. More importantly, I understand why it’s working, which means I can keep doing it. I’d recommend Harvey and HeyAmara to anyone who wants to start their own recruitment agency, whether you’re changing careers with no recruitment background like I was, or you’re an experienced recruiter ready to go out on your own. If you’re looking for a recruitment coach or mentor who will help you build a real business, not just talk about it, Harvey is who I’d call first.

Harvey has played a significant role in helping me transition from being relatively new to recruitment into building toward agency ownership. What has stood out most is the combination of practical recruitment mentorship, commercial guidance, process development and accountability. Harvey has helped me better understand how to structure and streamline recruitment processes across business development, candidate sourcing, client management, delivery and overall agency operations. Rather than overcomplicating recruitment, he has a strong ability to break processes down into clear, repeatable systems that can actually be implemented and scaled. Another major benefit has been the exposure to AI automation and how it can be practically incorporated into recruitment workflows. Through Harvey and the Amara team, I’ve been able to look at ways of improving efficiency, automating repetitive tasks, strengthening systems and ultimately operating more effectively as a recruitment agency owner. For someone coming into recruitment without years of traditional agency experience, having access to mentorship across recruitment strategy, agency growth, business development, systems, processes and AI automation has significantly accelerated my learning curve. Harvey genuinely creates an environment where you are encouraged to back yourself, take ownership of your outcomes and build something of your own, while still having experienced guidance available when you need it. I would recommend Harvey and the Amara team to recruiters, aspiring recruitment agency owners and entrepreneurs who are serious about building their own recruitment business, improving their systems and using technology and AI to create a more scalable operation. If you are willing to put the work in and bet on yourself, Harvey provides the mentorship, structure and support to help turn that ambition into something tangible.
No. You learn recruitment from the beginning, with coaching as you practise. Companies care that you understand the role and bring them suitable people, and that can be learned. If you already sell, those skills carry over.
No. HeyAmara helps you build your own recruitment business. You’re applying to talk about starting that business, not for a role with us.
When a company hires someone you introduced, it pays your business a fee. The fee is usually a share of that person’s salary. The person hired pays nothing.
The business runs online, so you have more say over where and when you work. We’ll talk through the time you have on your call.
Joining HeyAmara is a paid investment. We walk you through the investment and terms on your call, before you decide anything.
